COVID-19 Update for Housing and Utilities in Kansas:

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Governor of Kansas has enacted an executive order temporarily prohibiting evictions and foreclosures, as well as temporarily suspending the disconnection of utilities including electrical, natural gas, water, internet services, and telecommunication services until May 1, 2020. These executive orders apply to financial institutions and utility providers operated in Kansas.

If you need assistance navigating payment, service or eviction obstacles that you might be having with your landlord or utility providers due to the COVID-19 outbreak, please reach out to the Student Support & Case Management Office to speak with a Case Manager about your situation.

If you are encountering legal issues regarding eviction or utility services, please pursue legal guidance - there are legal resources listed at help.ku.edu/legal.

The University of Kansas is dedicated to assisting students who are experiencing financial and personal hardships. The Emergency Aid Network was established in 2018 to help build a more transparent network of resources for students who may need financial assistance during emergency situations and are experiencing financial obstacles. Emergency aid can be defined as - but is not limited to - grants, loans, food pantries, housing assistance, reduced-cost/low-cost services, and much more. This website provides information about resources across the KU Lawrence Campus, as well as resources throughout the community of the City of Lawrence, that are available to help those who may be experiencing financial hardships.
